"Dottie" Dorothy M. Salvaty Furnish Obituary (1949

Dottie Salvaty Furnish, age 70, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on November 13, 1949 in Jersey City, New Jersey. She was the loving daughter of the late Charles C. Salvaty and Dorothy E. White Salvaty Steward. She was raised in upstate New York and was schooled there. She moved to Jefferson County, Indiana in 1995 and lived in Vevay for eleven years before returning to Jefferson County first residing in Dupont then her final years were spent in Madison. She was a homemaker, was raised in the Catholic faith and had attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Dottie was a former member of the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion Auxiliary and a life member of the Madison VFW Post No. 1969 Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafts, old cars, being with her friends and family. Dottie had a beautiful smile and could light up any room she was in with her personality. She had fought a difficult battle with cancer for the past several years. Dottie died on Friday, March 13, 2020, at 4:42 p.m. at the Hosparus Inpatient Unit of Norton Pavilion in Louisville, Kentucky. Please Click Here to View the Video Tribute A LOVING FAMILY Dottie will be missed by her loving companion of 33 years, Lawrence "Larry" Brittain, Jr. of Madison, Indiana; her step-daughter, Lena Jo Brittain of Hanover, Indiana; her step-sons, Steve Brittain and his wife Becky of Nabb, Indiana, Phillip Brittain and his wife Jan of Madison, Indiana, Darin Brittain of Madison, Indiana; her sisters, Carol Forstner and her husband Thomas of Wallkill, New York, Judy Mullen and her husband David of Port Richey, Florida; her brothers, Wayne Salvaty of Las Vegas, Nevada, Charles Smith of Walden, New York; 7-grandchildren; 2-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles C. Salvaty, her mother, Dorothy E. White Savalty Stenrud, her brothers, Charles "Chas" Salvaty and Daniel R. Bartone. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at 7:00 p.m., at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may visit Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
