Dora Ann Long Alexander Powell

Dora Ann Long Alexander Powell, age 73 of Madison, Indiana entered this life on August 7, 1953 in Madison, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Irvin M. and Helen Marie Otter Long. She resided all of her life in Jefferson County and was a graduate of Southwestern High School. She was blessed to raise two sons, Derek and Brandon. On May 22, 1994 she was united in marriage to Chester Allen Powell at the Middle Fork Christian Church near Dupont, Indiana. They enjoyed 22 years of marriage together until his death on June 21, 2016. She drove No. 38 and No. 48 School Buses for Madison Consolidated School Corporation and then drove Bus No. 3 for Southwestern School Corporation with a total of 43 years of service to the school corporations. She was a member of the Mt. Byrd Christian Church in Milton, Kentucky. She enjoyed listening to Country music, gardening, mowing her lawn, and riding motorcycles. Dora passed from this life on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 3:54 a.m. at her home in Madison, Indiana.

Dora is survived by her loving sons, Derek Alexander and his wife, Katie of Madison, Indiana and Brandon Alexander and his wife, Sarah of Madison, Indiana; her adoring grandchildren, Bryce, Grant, Bree, and Brady Alexander; her sisters, Elaine Meyers of Madison, Indiana and Mary Arbuckle of Madison, Indiana; her brothers; Ronnie Long of Madison, Indiana; Eston Long and his wife, Cindy of Hanover, Indiana; Kenny Long and his wife, Jackie of Madison, Indiana; David Long and his wife, Linda of Lexington, Indiana; her sisters in law, Penny Long and Jenita Long both of Madison, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Marie Otter Long, died May 21, 1987, her father, Irvin M. Long, died July 21, 2011, her brothers, Russell Long, died July 24, 2022 and Irvin Long, Jr., died September 9, 2022.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment to follow at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. and Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
