Donald Robert "Bud" Cash Obituary (1941

Mr. Donald "Bud" Robert Cash, age 82, affectionately known as Bud or Don to his family and friends who resided in the Thompson Road community of rural Jefferson County, Indiana near Volga, entered this life on October 24, 1941 in Madison, Indiana. He was the cherished son of the late Robert L. "Bob" and Virginia L. Sprong Cash. Raised in the Hopewell community, Bud's life was marked by his deep-rooted connections to family and faith. On June 20, 1960, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Lois Lichlyter, and together they built a loving home, blessed with two wonderful children, Mark and Denise. Bud's professional journey began at Butler Dairy in Madison, Indiana, and spanned various industries, including Cummins Engines, Robus Leather, Reliance Electric, and Rockwell-Baldor, from which he retired. Alongside Dorothy, he also successfully owned and operated Cash's Discount Center for nine years in Hanover, Indiana. A lifelong farmer, Bud took great pleasure in cultivating and selling produce, often seen sharing his bounty at the local farmer's market. His passion for nature was evident in his love for exploring creeks and caves, canoeing, and hunting mushrooms and deer. Fishing, collecting hats, playing poker and euchre, reading, and watching old westerns were among his many hobbies. Bud's devotion to his family was unwavering. He found immense joy in family dinners and was a dedicated supporter of his grandchildren, attending their numerous sporting events with pride. A man of strong faith, Bud held a long-standing connection with Hopewell Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for the past 20 years, exemplifying his commitment to his community and his beliefs. His legacy of love, hard work, and faith will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bud's life was a testament to the values of family, faith, and community, and he will be deeply missed. Bud passed from this life on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 2:07 a.m. at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky with his loving family at his side. Please Click Here to View the Video Tribute A LOVING FAMILY Bud will be missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy Lois Lichlyter Cash of Madison, Indiana; his loving son, Mark Cash and his wife, Tara of Madison, Indiana; his loving daughter, Denise Hackney of Madison, Indiana; his grandchildren, Krista Coles and her husband, Kody; Ryan Cash and his wife, Amberly; Jenna Gardner and her husband, Ben; Evan Hackney and his wife, Zoe; Annelise Hackney and her boyfriend, Tyler Fitch; his great grandchildren, Luke, Jake, Allie, Sawyer, Ashlynn, and Hallie; his sister , Laura Cash Boldery of Madison, Indiana; his brothers in law, Larry Weatherbee of Madison, Indiana, Steve Lewis and his wife, Shelly of Madison, Indiana; his sisters in law, Mary and Bill Mullikin of Madison, Indiana, Ruth and Merle Sedam of Madison, Indiana, Linda Phillips of Madison, Indiana, Diana Mathis of Madison, Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. "Bob" Cash, died February 15, 2004, his mother, Virginia L. Sprong Cash, died November 7, 2001, his sister, Nancy Cash Lewis, died, February 4, 2004, his brothers in law and his sisters in law, Ronnie Phillips, Barbara Weatherbee, and Donald Lee "Curly" Boldery. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., by Pastor Steve Herald at the Hopewell Baptist Church, 3078 North Thompson Road, Madison (Volga), Indiana. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens, 9306 North U.S. 421 near Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may visit Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison, Indiana and Thursday from 2:00 pm until the time of service at the Hopewell Baptist Church, 3078 North Thompson Road, Madison (Volga), Indiana.
