"Bud" Nelson Leon Horine Obituary (1942

Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mr. Nelson Leon "Bud" Horine Mr. Nelson L. "Bud" Horine, age 78, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on February 22, 1942 in Jefferson County, Indiana Saluda township. He was the loving son of the late Lawrence Russell and Eunice Pearl Bibb Horine. Bud was united in marriage to Dottie S. "Junior" Vawter on June 18, 1988 in Madison, Indiana. Bud was raised a Christian in New Prospect Baptist Church. He was a 1960 graduate of Saluda High School and attended Ball State University. He was a devoted father to son, Greg, and daughters, Bethe, Julie and Lisa; as well as his bonus children, Brian and Jill. A life-long restauranteur, Bud was an owner and operated the legendary Steer Restaurant for 29 years and also founded the ETC. Cafeteria. He concluded his professional career at the historic Clifty Inn where he managed the food operations for 10 years. An insatiable foodie, he was also an avid sportsman who had a passion for golf and tennis. His annual golf trips to Guntersville, Alabama were amongst his favorite. He was a member of the Madison Elks Lodge No. 524 and the Madison Moose Lodge No. 765. Bud died on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 1:15 a.m. at his home with his loving family at his side. "Junior" Vawter Horine of Madison, Indiana; his loving children, Greg Horine (Mayme) and Bethe Beaver (Rick) of Noblesville, IN, Julie Horine of Fishers, IN, Lisa Gemmer (David) of Avon, IN, Brian Kimmel (Sandi) of Parker, CO; Jill McEldowney (Jason) of Fishers, IN. His grandchildren, Michael Horine, Victoria Horine, Alex Horine, Luke Horine, Elayna Horine, D.J. Wilkes, Tavia Wilkes, Robbie (Katelin) Horine, Anne (Jordan) Jackson, Katherine Sarno, and Livvy Beaver, Paul Gemmer, Mark Gemmer, Noah Kimmel, Owen McEldowney, Evan McEldowney and Addie McEldowney. His siblings, Ruby Nichols (Tom) of Madison, IN, Dr. Randall Horine (Mary) of Indianapolis, IN, Stacey Horine (Patricia) of Madison, IN, Janet Taff of Madison, IN, and Regina Kalb (Bill) of Madison, IN. His aunt, Laura Craig of Madison, IN as well as eight nieces & nephews and several additional relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence R. Horine, November 1, 1995 and his mother, Eunice Pearl Bibb Horine June 15, 2015. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 13, 2020, at 7:00 p.m., by his brother, Stacey Horine at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Private interment will follow Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the Fairmount Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may visit Saturday from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
