Arizona Boone Jeffries

Mrs. Arizona Boone Jeffries born on March 18, 1938, in Owenton, Kentucky, passed away on October 14, 2026 in Madison, Indiana. Born to the late Lloyd Thomas Boone and Nellie R. Perkins Boone, Arizona was one of thirteen children. She spent her childhood in Brooksburg, Indiana, before moving to Bedford, Kentucky, after marrying William E. Jeffries. The couple shared a loving union of 33 years, their lives intertwined with shared work and hobbies.

A diligent farm laborer in her early years, Arizona and her husband sold roadside peaches, and later both worked at the Bedford, Kentucky Jail, where she served as a cook and he as a deputy jailer. After retiring, Arizona filled her days with the things she loved. She was an avid IU Hoosier basketball fan, particularly devoted to coach Bobby Knight. She had a zest for life which saw her attending yard sales, enjoying meals out, and spending time on her porch with her neighbors. The mid-1990s saw Arizona and William baptized at Bedford Baptist Church, a testament to their shared faith.

She is survived by her sister Ola B. Heath-Purvis of Vevay, Indiana; her many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Arizona was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Thomas Boone and Nellie R. Perkins Boone; her husband of 33 years William E. Jeffries who passed away on March 19, 1999; her brothers and sisters Ila Beckham, Marie Tinsley, Mabel Lee Boone, Gertrude Paul, Eunice Wright, Mary Greene, Atmore Boone, Porter Boone, Lloyd "Les" Boone, Austin Boone and Edgar Boone.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison, Indiana, 47250. A graveside service will follow on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bedford Cemetery, Cemetery 1 Road, Bedford, Kentucky, 40006.
