Mrs. Pearl Elizabeth Schafer Stites, age 60 of Pleasant Ridge near Madison, entered this life on October 29, 1949 in Jefferson County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Francis "Frankie" E. & Dorissey Moore Schafer. She resided nearly all of her life in Jefferson County and was a 1967 graduate of Shawe Memorial High School. She attended the Versailles Vocational School nursing assistant program. She was united in marriage on May 10, 1968 in Madison, Indiana to Billy Bruce Stites. To this happy union arrived two daughters to bless their home. She was a devoted wife, mother and grammy. She was employed for many years in the cafeteria at the Madison Consolidated Schools and also enjoyed being a school bus driver. She had served for the past several years as assistant to the Jefferson County Assessor under Gail Sims and Margaret Hoffman. She had worked as a home health care nursing assistant for several years and worked at the former Madison Nursing Home as a certified nursing assistant. She had enjoyed serving as a co-leader for the Jefferson County 4-H Program; served as president of the PTO at Shawe & Pope John Schools; served as a Brownie leader; enjoyed membership in the Jefferson County C.B. Club with the handle, Snookie. She was a faithful member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church and had enjoyed helping with CCD - Religious Education Classes. Pearl died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 3:28 a.m. at her home near Madison Indiana.

Pearl will be missed by her loving husband: Billy Bruce Stites of Madison, Indiana; her loving daughters: Tammy Stewart & her husband: Allen Wayne of Madison, Indiana and Tina Voris & her husband: Anthony Wayne of Madison, Indiana; her five adoring grandchildren: Bethany, Traci, Autumn, Katelynn & Everett; her loving mother: Dorissey "Doris" Moores Schafer of Madison, Indiana; her loving sisters: Beverly Akers & her husband: Terry of Bethlehem, Georgia, Mary Francis Lauter & her husband: Galen of Hanover, Indiana, Diana Mahoney & her husband: Jim of Madison, Indiana; her loving brother: Rev. Lawrence "Larry" E. Schafer & his wife: Susan of North Vernon, Indiana; 9-nieces, nephews, several cousins & other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father: Francis E. "Frankie" Schafer died: May 14, 1998 and her mother in law and father in law, Evelyn & Everett Stites.


THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL
Funeral Mass will be conducted Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., by Father John A. Meyer at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 413 East Second Street in downtown Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Brooksburg Cemetery in Brooksburg, Indiana.


VISITATION
Friends may call Friday from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.


THE ROSARY
The Rosary will be prayed on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
