Mr. Elvin Russell Bramwell, age 84, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on March 22, 1925 in Jefferson County, Indiana. He was the son of Homer & Ruth Ritchie Bramwell. He resided all of his life in Jefferson County and was a 1943, graduate of North Madison High School. He was inducted into the United States Army on Dec. 20, 1944 at Camp Atterbury. He rose to the rank of Private First Class, serving in Company E, Second Battalion of the 182nd Infantry during World War II. He fought in the Southern Philippine Campaign and was honorably discharged on October 31, 1945, receiving the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, with One Star and Phillippine Liberation Ribbon. He was united in marriage on June 10, 1949 in Columbus, Indiana to Norma Eloise Baylor. This union was blessed with three daughters and a son to bless their home. They shared nearly fifty six years of marriage together until her death on Feb. 22, 2005. He retired after 26 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service in 1983. He was also employed for five and a half years with the Jefferson Proving Ground. He had farmed all of his life and was a faithful member of the Smyrna Monroe Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau, the Clifty Swingers Square Dance Club and had served on the Township Advisory Board. He also had served as a director of the Old Settlers of Neaville's Grove. He also enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends and family. Elvin was an avid IU Basketball fan & Indianapolis Colts fan. He was an avid gardner who enjoyed sharing his produce with everyone. He was a faithful blood donor with the Jefferson County Red Cross having exceeded twenty gallons of donation. Elvin died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 2:50 a.m.at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana.

Elvin will be missed by his loving daughters: Donita Hancock & her husband: Jim of Lexington, Indiana, Brenda Kelly of Lancaster, Indiana, Wanda McClure & her companion: David Stewart of Madison, Indiana; his loving son: Keith Bramwell & his wife: Victoria of Madison, Indiana; his loving brother: George Bramwell & his wife: Jettie of Sevierville, Tennessee; his loving sister: Nina Simons of Columbus, Indiana; his loving grandchildren: Larry Hancock & his wife: Sharon; Jamie Phillips & her husband: Shane; Dawna Gross; Katrinia Niccum, Amanda & Ryan Bramwell; his great grandchildren: Joseph, Rachel & Samuel Hancock; Delainey , Mason & Wyatt Phillips; Bo Kahn; his nieces: Pam Bramwell, Betty Buchanan & her husband: James; & Valeria Johnson; his nephew: Patrick Williams & other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents: Homer & Ruth Ritchie Bramwell; his wife: Norma Eloise Baylor Bramwell died: Feb. 22, 2005; his brother: Everett Bramwell; his infant sister: Ella Marie Bramwell; his sons in law: Charles Phillip Kelly and Raymond Winburn; his granddaughter: Delaina Hancock.


FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., by Elder Wallace Hines at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison, Indiana, with full military honors conducted by Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion.


VISITATION
Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
