Mr. James Perry Barnes, age 81, of Greenbriar Ridge Road near Moorefield, Indiana, entered this life on September 8, 1926, in Madison, Indiana, the son of James Sr. & Emma Brooks Barnes, both of whom preceded him in death. He was raised in the Brooksburg community and attended school there, residing all of his life in Milton Township. He was inducted into the United States Army on April 14, 1945 during World War II and was honorably discharged on December 17, 1946. He was united in marriage to Delma June Guynn, to this union arrived two sons to bless their home. He was a farmer all of his life and enjoyed raising tobacco, cattle & corn. He also had worked for Pinkerton Security at Marble Hill & Reliance for several years. He was a member of the Jefferson County Democrat Party and had served as the Milton Township Trustee. He served as a special deputy for Jefferson County Sheriff Beck Alexander & Harold "Jug" Raisor. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church near Moorefield and Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion & Madison VFW Post 1969. James died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehab Center in Vevay, Indiana. 


A LOVING FAMILY
James will be missed by his loving sons: Pastor Michael Barnes & his wife: Joyce of Madison, Indiana and Myron Barnes & his wife: Janet of Madison, Indiana; his loving grandchildren: Bree, Dylan, Chance, Sierra & Emily June; several nieces, nephews & other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents: James Sr. & Emma Brooks Barnes; his wife: Delma June Guynn Barnes died in 1983; his grandson: Shawn Michael Barnes; his brothers: Delbert, Roy & Glenn Barnes.


FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 30, 2008 at 11:00 am, by Pastor Mike Sawalich at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Brooksburg Cemetery, Brooksburg, Indiana with full military honors conducted by Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion.


VISITATION
Friends may call Thursday, from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm and Friday from 9:00 am until time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
